"The Engineer's Report" Helps You Make Informed Decisions Now and In The Future

The function of a pre-purchase home inspection in to provide you with detailed information about the home's current condition. In addition to providing a very thorough look at the current condition, the Criterium Engineers evaluation method also gives you a maintenance plan to help you prioritize repairs and maintenance.

In a largely unregulated industry, the quality and usefulness of any home inspection depends upon the knowledge and experience of the person who conducts the inspection. Criterium Engineers inspections are conducted by licensed Professional Engineers (and similarly qualified Registered Architects). This designation represents a signifiecant career commitment requiring a minimum of eight years of training and experience including four years of college, four years of professional experience (three years in some states) and successful completion of State Board exams. In addition to more extensive experience and training than most home inspectors, in most states licensed Professional Engineers are the only ones who can legally comment on the structural integrity of a building.

Criterium Engineers reports are well organized. So, our clients appreciate the easy to understand reports that they continue to refer to them years after the inspection. A typical report will help you understand what you should know about the condition of the home in a clear, narrative style, so you can make an informed decision.

Choose The Inspection That Best Meets Your Needs

The Standard Inspection: The Standard Criterium Engineer's inspection is performed to the standards of the National Academy of Building Inspection Engineers (NABIE). It includes an on-site evaluation, a detailed narrative report with summaries of major systems and deficiencies (if any), and a maintenance plan tailored to the property. While our Standard Inspection incluedes evaluation of tough-to-see spaces like attics, basements, and crawl spaces, it is limited.

Unless otherwise noted, our building inspections are based on visual evidence reasonably available during our inspection. Observations and conclusions may be limited since conditions could exist that would not be seen during our inspections.

The Exhaustive Inspection: Our Exhaustive Inspection includes all items noted in the NABIE Standards of Practiece. It also goes beyond the Standard Inspection by including analysis, invasive testing and extensive, on-site evaluation. Please call for more information.
